Jeremy Jones
Jeremy's two-decade track record of serving students and families from the classroom to the statehouse is a personal mission. Even before Jeremy graduated from college, he served as a teacher at the Breakthrough Collaborative in New Orleans and Austin, developing his ethos for instructional excellence and vibrant school communities. Jeremy then joined Teach For America New Orleans, where he taught middle school math and science. Relocating to Houston after Hurricane Katrina, Jeremy became the first director of talent strategy for the YES Prep Public Schools, helping the organization grow to serve 10,000 students.
Jeremy has held senior positions at both the district and state levels. He was a principal in Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston before launching the Democracy Prep Schools in San Antonio. He also served as the Executive Director of the EAGLE College Prep Schools in Phoenix, accelerating the district's performance and increasing enrollment. As the Communications Director for the Achievement School District in Tennessee, Jeremy supported the state's school turnaround efforts. He continued his work in state education policy as the Executive Director of the Maine Charter School Commission where he modernized accountability systems to support school performance.
Jeremy contributes to research-driven policy as a member of Brown University’s EdResearch Advisory Board. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law.
